Winter Beer Fest
The Ship and Mitre announces the next Beer Festival will be commencing on Wednesday 15th November 2006.Following a somewhat dissappointing festival for the tickers amongst you (It wasnt aimed at that particular market last time), I can confirm that we will be supplying around 65 - 70 beers (Subject to space) with many new ales on offer, and I'm currently talking to several breweries who I am asking to do us a one off brew as many have done before. Entry is free as usual and food will be served throughout the 5 day event. Please keep an eye on the web site for further information.

Belgium Beer Trip May 2007
The date for the first official Ship & Mitre Belgian Beer Tour has been anounced.
For any beer enthusiast, the only way to fully appreciate Belgian Beers, the most traditional and diverse beers on the planet, is inside a Belgian café bar itself. Much like in the UK, the best of Belgian Beers do not travel. They are available only to the locals.
The Ship & Mitre has teamed up with Travel Time Ltd (ATOL 6379) in association with British Airways Scheduled Service to offer all beer lovers the chance to sample Belgian café life, and as an added bonus, visit two of the world's most famous and important centres of brewing excellence, Chimay and Cantillon.
Tour highlights: Chimay Beer and Cheese from the Trappist monks of Scourmount Abbey. Lambic Beers and brewery tour at the Cantillon Brewery and museum. Nights out to sample the cafe bars and 'Cuisine a la biere' of both Brussels and Bruges. Return flights from the Manchester with British Airways. Coach transfers to all destinations. Bed and breakfast in 3* accomodation for three nights.

Gas Lights Electrified
As part of the continuing renovation of the pub’s infrastructure the remaining gas lights have been wired for electric.
Although it’s a bit sad to lose a part of the pub’s old character, the improvement this makes to the pub ambience is well worth the change. The gas lights themselves have not been used with gas this century. Most notable are the changes in the back room, where all of the wall lights and also the two large glass globes near the steps are all now lit with electric bulbs.
